Return to Leader Wood

Leader Wood

Leader staff are getting ready for a New Year return to a wood they helped plant in 2015.

To celebrate Leader’s 50th anniversary, we supported the Heart of England Forest charity by planting Leader Wood just south of Stratford-upon-Avon.

This 6.5 acre parcel of land was stocked with a wonderful range of trees native to England’s ancient Greenwood.

These joined the 1.4 million trees planted so far by the Heart of England to create the largest new native forest in the country, running across South Warwickshire and Worcester on the doorstep of cities like Birmingham and Coventry.

Unfortunately, the long hot summer of 2018 had a considerable impact on the young trees. More than 10% of the original saplings were lost.

However, managing director James Holden has taken the decision to restore Leader Wood, meaning fresh trees will now be planted in the growing season of 2019/2020.

Naturally, Leader staff will be pulling the wellies back on and getting hands-on with the planting!
